You're making the case for the position of the Empty Chair. Many prominent Catholic sub-stackers do so on a weekly basis but lack the courage to actually formally go there. I believe that is a tremendous mistake. Nobody said it would be easy being a Catholic, but Someone DID say the World hated Him before it hated us, so I don't feel so alone.

I can't say I agree with several issues of which you've written. First, Mary is the co-redemptrix. I find nothing in Vatican II or the current Chair of Peter to refute this. I've seen her in action, not just in the appearances over the millennia, some well known (Lourdes) and some not. I've witnessed first hand the miracles she interceded to get on behalf of my family, whose dedication to Mary is as solid as they come. We are/I am Franciscan Irish Catholics - cradle to grave. Second, I believe there are three types of Catholics. 1) Those who follow the hierarchy (predominately the bishops) blindly 2) Those who flee in the face of church history past and present, the worst being the pedophile influence and 3) those of us who stay to fight it out.
We don't however stay to 'fight it out' to go back, to a church history that is very dark indeed. In my MA in Theology we had to take a course in 'Church History'. We were warned ahead of time that it parts of it are unsettling at best, disgusting at worse. It is littered with many things Jesus would not do!
I think we lose sight of the two commandments He left us that sum up the law.
1) Love Him. Period. All the time.
2) Love everyone created in His Image and Likeness - every single human being. Without judging since their is only One Judge and I do not what His job.
Concentrating on these two commands, given shortly before His death and resurrection (and also in Deuteronomy and Leviticus) eliminates the need to focus on anything else since the first one deals with the first three commandments and the second the last seven.
