Or Is It Time To Go All-In?
Ambiguity, mixed messaging, and gaslighting are a toxic mix. When injected into the psyche over time, they cause doubt.
If you’re immune to this kind of venom, you’re either enlightened or denser than a box of rocks buried under an impenetrable layer of granite.
I’m not enlightened, but I don’t think I’m impenetrably dense. Lately, I’ve been wondering if I’ve been missing something. This type of wondering is spurred, like it or not, by doubt.
I’ve lived my life thinking that the Church does not serve the pope but that the pope serves the Church.
And then came Robert Prevost on the heels of Jorge Bergoglio. Things changed. My world was turned—for a time—upside down.
I always thought that the pope’s primary job was guarding the Deposit of Faith handed down by Jesus Christ to the Apostles, a cornerstone of our faith that must be preserved.
To accomplish this, novelty was to be regarded with suspicion, not embraced because the world demanded it.
I believed that authority ultimately comes from Christ, the same authority that has been witnessed throughout the centuries by an adherence to the Deposit of Faith guarded by the pope.
Philosophical argument and canon law cannot and will not trump any of that. That’s what I believed.
No matter what you think about Vatican II, you have to admit that it stirred up a great wave of confusion, and many Catholics were thrown overboard and are still bobbing around in its wake.
Confusion is the precursor to doubt. People of bad faith see doubt as an opportunity to forward their agenda, no matter what it is. They seem to be at the helm.
They make promises they cannot keep by circulating rumors that appeal to those looking for an easy way out:
There is no Hell
Everyone goes to Heaven
Everyone includes Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and, by way of logic, even Satanists and nonrepentant sinners bearing the yoke of mortal sin.
They stir the pot of simmering confusion and sprinkle mixed messaging in as the preferred spice of the damned:
Shun “traditional” Catholics such as the SSPX for disobeying the pope because they seek to continue defending the Deposit of Faith while accepting sexually active, nonrepentant homosexuals into the post-conciliar church.
This isn’t your great-grandmother’s Catholic Church, that much is certain, no matter who you are. Protestants, Muslims, Zen Buddhists, and Pagans of all colors know it.
And they’re smiling as the old way, you know, the way where there is only One God and one legitimate Deposit of Faith, is obscured by doubt as a profound identity crisis unfolds among the faithful.
If you disagree with the inherent ambiguity or outright contradictions present in the document of Vatican II, instead of Rome clearing up the confusion or explicating doctrine to set things straight, you end up being the villain.
That’s gaslighting par excellence, or so the powers that be must think. Why else would they promote confusion by silence when they are questioned?
Why else would they welcome Everyone inside the fold with no talk of repentance?
Why else would they demote the Virgin Mary from co-redemptrix to something else? If Mary isn’t the co-redemptrix, what is she? The question, left unanswered, promotes more doubt.
Mater Populi Fidelis states that it’s Mary’s designation as “Co-Redemptrix” that causes confusion, making it an improper description of Mary’s role.
More gaslighting. Unless you’re Protestant.
Protestants, taken as a whole, are the very definition of confusion.
That’s what Robert Prevost appears to want: Confusion. His version of ecumenism necessarily leads to religious indifference. Where all gods are equal, there are no gods because one cancels out the next ad nauseam.
Is that what crawled out of the Pandora’s Box of Vatican II?
It looks like it to me.
Am I a fool? If that’s what it takes to keep the faith, so be it.
“We are fools for Christ’s sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute.”
St. Paul might have been directly addressing the postconciliar church on behalf of the SSPX.
Who’s the fool? The postconciliar mob of todos, todos, todos, or the so-called “Traditionalists” who seek to uphold and pass on the Deposit of Faith?
Time will tell. And, right now, there’s no time for doubt.
It’s time to take a stand. I have.
You're making the case for the position of the Empty Chair. Many prominent Catholic sub-stackers do so on a weekly basis but lack the courage to actually formally go there. I believe that is a tremendous mistake. Nobody said it would be easy being a Catholic, but Someone DID say the World hated Him before it hated us, so I don't feel so alone.
We don't have to wait for time will tell to know who the fools are. The bogus ordo heretics prove it every time they open their mouths to spew their gibberish that is NOT what the Apostles taught, and that undeniable truth makes them all anathema! (See St Paul's letter to Galatians 1:8 for proof)
